About EcoPlanet Bamboo

EcoPlanet Bamboo Southern Africa was founded as a subsidiary of US based EcoPlanet Bamboo with the objective of developing an African bamboo industry. This integrates bamboo plantation and processing facilities, and through doing so, addresses critical issues of dwindling timber supply and associated environmental and social degradation in Southern Africa.

EcoPlanet Bamboo’s African operations begin with the restoration of degraded agricultural land into fully functioning bamboo forests. These will be harvested and processed to provide sustainable sources of bamboo activated carbon, charcoal and biomass based energy.

EcoPlanet Bamboo Southern Africa currently owns and manages 1,200 acres of commercial plantation of native African bamboo species, located within South Africa’s Eastern Cape.
